The Gibson Goddess

An attractive young lady at a beach resort draws unwanted attention from a group of unruly young men, so she disguises herself with a long beach coat and plenty of padding. Not recognizing the beauty they had seen earlier, the young men jeer and tease her, all except for a plain-looking sailor, who likes her despite her large size. In the final scene, she is restored to her normal size, promenading on the arm of the young sailor.

All On Account Of The Milk

Hiram, a young contractor, goes to a house near his worksite to get a glass of milk. He is mistaken by the heroine, Sophia, for a laborer, while he thinks she is the maid, although she is the daughter of the manor. (Sophia's maid has taken sick and Sophia has assumed her duties and clothing for the day). Hiram continues to represent himself as a laborer in order to see the "maid" for his daily glass of milk, and Sophia, in order to to continue her impersonation, continues to borrow her maid's clothing. After some confusion involving the actual maid, the gardener, Hiram's mother and Sophia's mother, the young people are brought together in their true identities, with the blessing of their respective mothers.

The Lost Battalion

Based on the experiences of soldiers in the American 77th Infantry Division, about 550 of whom were isolated and surrounded by the Germans during the Battle of the Argonne in World War I. The men suffered from thirst, hunger, and heavy losses, but refused to surrender. As more men were killed and captured, carrier pigeons became the only method of communicating with headquarters. Coming under friendly fire, the men were saved by a pigeon named Cher Ami, who was able to deliver a message to stop the barrage. After five days, and several unsuccessful rescue attempts, the remaining men were finally rescued. Five participants received the Congressional Medal of Honor, and others received the Distinguished Service Cross. The fictional part of the story precedes and follows the battle scenes, showing the men in civilian life and in training, and the survivors coming home to their loved ones. The fictional characters also appear in the battle scenes along with some of the actual participants.

A Beast at Bay

Edith and Jack are on their way to the train station when they are accosted by a drunken tramp, who insults them. Edith is peeved when Jack will not confront the tramp. Still angry with him, she drops him at the station and leaves. Meanwhile, a dangerous convict has escaped from prison, and is at large near the train station. The prisoner has overpowered one of his pursuers and forced the man to exchange clothes with him. The disguised convict stops Edith in her car and forces her to drive away with him, in full view of the passengers on the train platform. Jack is alarmed and confused as to why a prison guard would kidnap his fiance. The other two guards arrive and explain. The guards and Jack board the train, and follow in pursuit on the track, which parallels the road. Jack arrives just in time to defend Edith from assault by the violent criminal, who is hauled away by the guards. A grateful Edith is now convinced of Jack's bravery.
